Throughout my life I’ve had many roles, but none have been so precious to me as that of MOTHER. How grateful I am for my sweet children and the honor and responsibility I have to teach, guide, and protect them. As a mother, I know how important it is to be in tune with the feelings and needs of my children, and I strive daily to do that and to help my children progress in all areas of their life.
Because I’m a mother, I know how it feels to have concerns about my children and their education. I know how important it is to be heard and taken seriously by my children’s school teachers, administrators, and school board.
As a school board candidate with a mother’s perspective, I take seriously the role of parents in their children’s education. I recognize that parents have the fundamental right and duty to exercise primary control over the upbringing and education of their children (Utah Code 30-5a-103).
Parents, as your school board representative, I will respect and protect the boundaries between school’s responsibilities and family’s responsibilities. Because I am a parent myself, I know how important your rights are, and I will stand for you.
